2019 Environmental Dance Festival in RIGA
ENVIRONMENTAL DANCE is an annual traveling event that has been searching for unique play spaces in Latvia for more than ten years to introduce audiences to works of contemporary environmental dance.

The performance invites you to get closer to the connections between the creator and the creation. What discoveries does the modern Pygmalion encounter when creating his Galatea? What will he have to come to terms with so that his creation lives not only in his consciousness?

The shore is a place where the land and the world of water touch but do not meet. The performance looks at how what is happening and what is being created touch, and how the influenced and the influencing do not meet.

The performance embodies an absurd scene of a distant or very near future, reflecting on the human need, connection, and trust with the natural, pure, and healthy. How much are we ready to give to nature right now, if we take so much from it? Is the coexistence of nature and humans fair?

A hard, rough, and sloping surface is the only space they know. The four bodies must tense their muscles with all their strength to move upwards again and again. In this harsh environment, vitality begins to fade, but there is no place where the bodies could recharge anew. Can they survive? Maybe a few meters away there is another matter?
