International Contemporary Dance Festival

"VIDES DEJA"

About

For the tenth consecutive year, the International Contemporary Dance Festival “Dance of the Environment” brings together artists and dance enthusiasts to meet, inspire and create unusual environmental dance performances in an authentic atmosphere. The main goal of the festival is to challenge artists to create works in symbiosis with the environment, as well as to promote cultural and artistic diversity in the regions of Latvia.

The festival "Vides Dance" took place for the first time in 2011 in Piņķi, Babīte district, where the author and director of the idea Lily Lipora found her dance partner and stage design in the environment. During this time, the festival has grown significantly, with an international reach and an increasing number of visitors each year.

The 2020 festival will be dedicated to the FUTURE AND ECOLOGY.

The festival will feature performances of environmental dance, contemporary dance, improvisation, contact improvisation and other body and environment related activities, both for the performing arts professionals and for those interested in contemporary dance, regardless of their level of preparation. Anyone is invited to attend the festival's performances. Everything in the festival is created in harmony with the environment, local nature and history, focusing on ecological and environmentally friendly activities.

Where?

In 2020 the festival will take place in Ligatne, inviting you to connect with its unique nature and historic architecture. The festival will allow its visitors to re-discover the paper mill, nature trails, sandstone outcrops and other favorite places on campus.

When?

Next year the festival is scheduled for August 3 - 9. Details of upcoming events, participation in activities and festival schedule will be posted on the Environmental Dance website and on social networks.
